Edouard Salwan
Partner

Edouard advises and represents clients across the full spectrum of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on complex litigation and arbitration arising from cross-border transactions in the GCC and the Levant. With fifteen years of experience in the region, he is regularly instructed on high-value commercial disputes combining in-depth local knowledge with international expertise to navigate the complexities of the civil law system applicable to UAE Federal Courts and the common law system applied to Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Courts and the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) Courts.

His civil law background and fluency in Arabic give him the technical grounding and procedural command to navigate onshore litigation in full — an uncommon combination among international practitioners in the region.

His contentious practice is informed by extensive transactional experience in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings, giving him a commercial acuity that is central to how he approaches disputes.

Edouard has practised across multiple jurisdictions including the United Arab Emirates, France, Oman and Lebanon, and is frequently instructed by foreign investors and multinationals navigating contentious matters in unfamiliar legal systems. His ability to operate across civil and common law frameworks, combined with fluency in English, French and Arabic, makes him a natural choice for cross-border mandates where linguistic and jurisdictional complexity is a defining factor.

Edouard is admitted to the Beirut Bar Association (Avocat à la Cour) and is a registered legal practitioner (Part I and II) with full rights of audience to plead and appear before the DIFC Courts.

Edouard holds an LLB from Saint Joseph University and a Masters in Corporate and Securities Law from the University of Lyon III.
